If the trolls of the new right have a political identity defined in “opposition to external authority,” they’re about to get a wake-up call when Trump gets a second term. There is no one more authoritarian than a dictatorial Supreme Commander.
OTOH, there still exists a contingent of the left (call them the “old left”) who never bought in to woke ideology and identity politics lfrom the start. The fault of the new left liberals is simply that they weren’t around in the 1960s. There’s no shame or guilt involved unless they ignore the lessons of recent history. (Okay, Boomer…)
The old left didn’t succumb to Daddy-worship. Daddy was often a violent, alcoholic tyrant. That’s where second wave feminism came from—a desire to elevate Mommy to the level of worship. Just to the level of human being would be a start. Still working on that.
(As an aside, this may be the fault of autocorrect, but “Dime Square” is Dimes Square, a play on Times Square.)
The “performance rebellion” is so polarized right now it’s nauseating. I won’t listen to formerly intelligent, erudite pundits degenerate to the level of name-calling MAGAts, and I’m not even American. 🇨🇦
So, where would you have to go to find genuine rebellion? How about Ukraine? Oh, wait. That’s war. No part of the left wants to go there.
That seems to be the essential paradox of the left. Nothing changes unless you put skin in the game, and that whole idea is understandably abhorrent.
Rebellion isn’t ideological; it’s physical. It hurts and it can kill you. It won’t be long before your National Guard starts opening fire on “peaceful” protesters at what we used to call sit-ins. Kent State taught us that.
I don’t have any suggestions for reconciling the vast gulfs that are widening everywhere. By the time it reaches politically sanctioned gunfire, it will be too late for anything but Armageddon, apocalypse, and extinction—ours.

Hi, Brenden, getting caught up after a 5 weeks of supporting my spouse's knee replacement surgery recovery. I worked with similar ideas here:

I view my self as grounded in Karl and Carl and this contains a bit of both.
